About the role

To develop and maintain a market-leading retail proposition—covering pricing, range, promotions, services, and support—that enables retailers to run profitable stores while delivering strong customer satisfaction for both retailers and Booker.

The role combines commercial strategy, wholesale market insight, competitor analysis, and customer feedback to create profitable solutions. 

Reporting to the Head of Retail Proposition, it plays a key role in supporting the shaping of future short, medium and long-term retail plans.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise the retail proposition to drive retailer growth, profitability and loyalty.
  • Ensuring appropriate range for each symbol fascia is in place to deliver the retail plan.
  • Influence the Product team for differentiation in promotional activity between the fascia's and Scoot, in terms of both product and marketing materials.
  • Collate customer feedback in Price, Range and Margin working closely with the Retail Controllers and Sales Teams and use this to make informed recommendations. 
  • Monitor future trends in convenience retail, shopper behaviour and wholesale to inform both short and long term strategy.
  • Working closely and collaboratively with teams across Product, Range, Marketing and Supply Chain to develop ideas and implement recommendations. 
  • Support the development of store planograms and expected merchandising standards.
  • Act as the voice of the independent retailer when working collaboratively with other functions in projects and meetings.
  • Develop and implement a robust forward planning process for capturing and recording all key events.

  • Ensure team adherence to safety and compliance standards.

  • Support delivery of compliance audits and checks.
  • Maintain accurate records aligned to legal requirements.

Technology and Systems 

  • Be fully compliant with the IT policy.
  • Be able to use Microsoft Office and ideally Excel.   

You will need

Technical / Professional 

  • Commercially and financially focused.
  • Project and strategic planning. 
  • Improving capability and driving performance. 
  • Format development and being able to convey key differences between the fascia groups.
  • Knowledge of supply chain.

Behavioural & Leadership 

  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills , in order to relay agreed processes back through the relevant teams to agreed timescales. 
  • Ability to build credible and long-lasting business relationships.
  • Driving end to end collaboration beyond own area, to help influence and engage with other key departments to help deliver the retail plan. 
  • Cross functional influencing.
  • Prioritising what makes the biggest difference and always keeping in mind how any proposed changes could affect the customer.
