About the role

We are currently recruiting for Warehouse Operatives to join us in our Hatfield, Hertfordshire Regional Distribution Centre.

Working in our distribution centres mean fast paced environments, excellent attention to detail with the ability to think quickly and work as part of a team to ensure orders are picked accurately and on time with seamless delivery to our customers. Previous warehouse experience is helpful but not essential, full training will be provided.

This role is working any 5 days from 7 with the following shift patterns.  Sunday to Thursday and Monday to Friday from 2 pm to 10 pm.  Also night shift, Sunday to Thursday and Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 6 am.  Each shift includes 45-minute break, of which 15 minutes is paid.

Basic pay is £14.36 per hour. An additional shift premium of £2.87 per hour is paid between 6 pm and midnight. An indicative annual salary for this shift is approximately between £30,987 to £31,286 based on the fixed shift for 52 weeks excluding overtime and may vary where premium-qualifying hours change.

The shift premium between midnight and 6 am is £4,78 per hour. An indicative annual salary for this shift is approximately £35,459 excluding overtime. There is also additional Sunday premium of £1.44 per hour between 6 am and 6 pm.

**Prior to employment, you must successfully complete a drug and alcohol test.  Applicants must live in the UK and within a reasonable travelling distance.  Applicants must be aged 18 or over due to the warehouse work and shift times.**

Main Responsibilities

Picking and packing customers orders accurately, using a hand held terminal to understand pick expectation.

Receiving, storing, stacking appropriately and despatching ambient and chilled goods.

Manual handling of items weighing up to 25kg.

Following safety procedures and keeping work areas organised.

We have LLOPs (low-level order pickers and pallet trucks) and FLTs (forklift trucks) in operation on our sites, and successful individuals will be given the opportunity to be trained on these in certain areas of the warehouse. 

Our distribution centres typically have ambient, chilled and freezer sections, preferences will be discussed within the process in more detail. 

You will need

As a warehouse operative, being flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment is essential. 

You should be hardworking, able to work to set deadlines, and have a professional, positive, organised, and enthusiastic approach.

You must be able to understand safety instructions, pick orders accurately and be willing to complete the training provided. A good basic understanding of English language is essential for this.

While proven experience in a warehouse environment would be preferred, it is not essential. 

You should be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative. Remember, the key to success is being self-motivated.
